The Ultimate Sore Throat Remedy

Apple Cider Vinegar Gargles have been used to cure sore throats for 100s of years. These recipes have worked for me and my family repeatedly over the years and it’s high time we shared them with all of you!

Here is the recipe we used with our children and a more elaborate one for those of your seeking a more pleasant gargling experience. Again, the simple one seems to be the best, but it can be an unpleasant experience to gargle.


Raw Apple Cider Vinegar & Salt Gargle


Ingredients:

  • 2Tbsp. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Pinches of Table Salt
  • 1cu Water

Instructions:
Warm the cup of water on the stove and dissolve the salt in it. No hotter than 110℉! Pour into a drinking glass and add the apple cider vinegar. Stir thoroughly and gargle 5-8 times for 20-30 seconds each time (or as long as you can stand it). This should be done 3 times a day while symptoms of the sore throat last.

Again, not the most pleasant taste, but remarkably effective. If you can get your kids to gargle with this recipe, the illness will last half as long as it would have. Trust me, after raising 3 children prone to sore throats, this is the best cure there is.


Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Gargle Deluxe


And now for the deluxe version… This recipe is much more tolerable (when gargling) and is also very much effective and will reduce the severity of sore throats and ease the symptoms as well. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 8Tbsp Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 5 Pinches of Table Salt
  • 3/4 cu. Raw Local or Manuka Honey
  • 8-12 slices of fresh ginger, 1/4″ thick
  • 3 Pinches Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Pinches Tumeric Powder
  • 5 cu Water

The preparation of this remedy is more complex, but you can make larger batches and store it in the fridge.

Boil the 5 cups of water in an open sauce pan (no top). Add the salt and ginger slices and simmer for 10 mins. Allow this mixture to cool down to 110℉. Once the water has cooled down, add the apple cider vinegar, honey, cayenne & tumeric powder and stir.

Pour 8oz (per person needing to gargle) into a cup/s and have them gargle 5-8 times for 30seconds each time. Should greatly improve the conditions of the sore throat, speeding up the patient’s recovery time.
