Carol Valderama, LMT
Carol began her career as a nurse. She first worked in hospitals, specializing in pediatric orthopedic departments, and later, as a home care nurse for terminally ill patients. In 1996, Carol returned to school and received her associate’s degree in Massage Therapy from New York College, and has been working as a licensed massage therapist since 1998. While her specialty is Swedish massage (also known as European), Carol is also well-versed in other popular techniques including Amma Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Gua Sha, Moxabustion, and Cupping. Many individuals practice shallow breathing and even hold their breath throughout their day. This can cause "tightness" in posture and eventually in your muscles, which causes stress - and it gets worse with time! Frequent massages can enable deeper breathing, which in turn can lessen stress levels. Most people do not realize the amount of tension that they carry until their shoulders are up to their ears, and they can no longer move their necks. Carol enjoys working with people and combining techniques to best serve her clients, and to help relieve the stress generated from today’s high-pressure, fast-paced world. She believes that the touch of the human body is physically, emotionally and spiritually comforting and healing.
